Psyche

The human psyche is a bundle of emotions & beliefs forming one’s Identity (which includes Social Identity).

Various affective 1 perceptions of the world are components of this psyche:

  • The “I” or “me” one thinks and feels oneself to be
  • Any “group” one belongs to
    • Including the largest group, “humanity”

These entities (“I”, “me”, “group”, “humanity”) are the psyche or identity—as in they are all one and the same thing. 2 They are nothing more than psychic apparitions, as distinct from the flesh & blood human bodies they supposedly represent. They are the ultimate cause of all human suffering (malice and sorrow). Despite not being real (actual), they feel very very real to the 8 billion human beings on the planet.

The death of this illusory psyche entails Altruistic ‘self’-immolation, and an abeyance of it results in a Pure Consciousness Experience.

Characteristics

  • An identity occupying one host body can involuntarily transmit its affect 1 contents to other identities occupying other host bodies regardless of distance.

RICHARD: I should have put scare quotes around the word humanity as the word itself can refer to two different things: in its all-humankind meaning it is a more comprehensive word for what the word group refers to (which ranges through family, band, clan, tribe, race, nation and species) and, just as the group’s survival traditionally takes precedence over an individual’s survival, the group’s fears of not surviving have priority over an individual’s fears of not surviving. When fear comes into the picture, however, the word humanity no longer refers to all people collectively but takes on a life of its own, as it were, and becomes an entity in its own right in the same way ‘I’ am an entity inside the flesh and blood body.

And just as ‘I’ suffer because ‘I’ exist (suffering is ‘my’ very nature) ‘humanity’ suffers because it exists (suffering is very nature of ‘humanity’) and thus a virtue is made out of suffering because the survival of ‘humanity’ is at risk … hence the taboo on escape

Yet ‘humanity’ has no existence outside of the human psyche.

  • macho

    The macho (or male chauvinist, or manly man) is a strutting factotum with bulging biceps, stone-dry eyes, brains that are ruled by his gonads, and an ego indoctrinated to believe that he is the lord -and master of the woman who rules him. His psyche is primed to defend his woman’s supposed honour from other men’s advances. Thoroughly conditioned to serve women, his life satisfaction comes from loyally serving his nest queen. Naturally, he is the matriarchist’s ideal man. When young, he suffers from the delusion that he is stronger, cleverer, and naturally superior to the woman who controls him. However, an older and wiser macho, if obliged to confess the truth, might say: “I am the captain of this ship, and I have the permission of my wife to say so.” But by then, it is too late for him to be anything but a habitual macho.

  • Mental image

    A mental image, in the context of the Psyche, is the internal, psychic representation we form of another person. It is the “story” or belief-structure we create about someone, composed of our own emotions, judgments, past experiences, and projections.

    I do not exist over time or from place to place. I am only ever here now. Any ‘I’ that appears to have a duration is a psychological entity – a cognitive and affective construct – which in no way is substantive. This construct is that intuition of ‘being’ – a ‘presence’ – that one mistakenly thinks and feels oneself to be. One has ‘been’ in the past, one is ‘being’ in the present, and one will ‘be’ in the future. That ‘being’ is what one calls ‘I’, taking it to be me; me as-I-am. ‘I’ was, ‘I’ am, ‘I’ will ‘be’ … this sense of continuity, a psychological entity called ‘me’ existing over time, is not me as-I-am. I do not exist over time; I exist only as this moment exists, and now has no duration. Everything is immediate and direct. This is apperception. Apperception is when the immediate is experienced as the ultimate.
